Getting started
Do I really get the first 30 days free?
Yes. Every new Apple ID gets a full 30-day trial through Apple's introductory offer. You'll only be charged if you don't cancel before day 30. Cancel any time in iOS Settings → Subscriptions.
Do I need a credit card to start the trial?
Apple requires a payment method on your Apple ID to start any subscription trial — but that's between you and Apple. JunaTalk never sees your card.
Is JunaTalk available on Android?
Not yet — we're iOS-only at launch. Email [email protected] to be notified when Android lands.
Pronunciation
What is per-syllable feedback?
When you read a phrase out loud, JunaTalk grades each syllable on two signals: the sounds you made (Sounds) and where you placed the stress (Stress). Red, amber, and green chips show you which syllables hit and which need work.
What accents does JunaTalk teach?
Choose American, British, Australian, or Indian English. All audio playback and pronunciation grading happens against the accent you pick. You can change it anytime in Settings.
How do you measure stress, not just sounds?
English is stress-timed. We compare your prosody (which syllables you emphasized, how long you held them) to the native reference for the same phrase. Stress errors are caught even when individual sounds are correct.
Is the grading harsh or forgiving?
Honest, not harsh. Bands are tuned so green means a native speaker would understand you instantly. Mastery moves up fast (0.75 EMA weight) and down slow (0.35) — a single bad attempt won't erase a known word.
Languages
Does JunaTalk support my native language?
We launch with 75 — every major language with full audio coverage. See the full list on languages.html. Translations, hints, and the post-lesson debrief all appear in your chosen language.
Will the app interface be in my language?
At launch, the interface is in English. Translations of all lesson content appear in your language. We're working on full UI localization for the next major release.
Subscription & billing
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — anytime in iOS Settings → Subscriptions. Your subscription runs until the end of the current billing period, then stops. No emails to write, no hoops.
How do referrals work?
Share your invite code from Settings → Invite friends. When a friend completes their first paid month, you both get +30 days credited to your next renewal. Earn up to 12 free months — after that you become a JunaTalk Ambassador.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store subscriptions are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com within 90 days of the charge to request one. We don't have the ability to issue refunds directly.
Privacy & data
Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or train models on your voice recordings. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What happens to my voice recordings?
Your audio is sent to our speech recognition and pronunciation assessment partner (Azure) for grading, then deleted within 24 hours. We retain only the per-syllable scores, not the audio itself.
